Abstract:

This study investigated the diversity of rotifers in Ahilyanagar District, Maharashtra, India. A total of nine genera of rotifers, belonging to seven families, were recorded from four study sites. Our study documents these nine genera, namely Brachionus, Keratella, Lecane, Platyias, Trichocerca, Notommata, Collotheca, Filinia, and Philodina. The families Brachionidae and Lecanidae were found to be dominant, with Brachionus, Keratella, and Lecane being the most common genera. Seasonal fluctuations in rotifer population density revealed the highest densities in the rainy season, moderate in winter, and lowest in the summer season.
